The pre-election campaign is in full swing. Attacks happen on automatic fire and alliances are made and broken at a dizzying pace. The current mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, is of the opinion that "it is unnecessary" for PNL and PSD to make a project for Bucharest in just three months, how many more until the elections. As for him, Nicuşor Dan stated that he has 36 percent in the last poll: "What is important is that we have a mayor in office who has 30-35 percent in the polls, 36 in the last one I have seen, we have a party, PSD, which has 30-35%, we have elections in one round. In elections in one round people vote usefully and that will be the match, that is my prediction". The mayor emphasized that in 2020 he was voted by the right-wing electorate against 12 years of PSD administration: "In 2020, I was voted by an entire right-wing public against 12 years of PSD administration in Bucharest. I invite those people to evaluate my activity and to vote again in this right-wing vs PSD match". Asked about the possible counter-candidate from the PNL and PSD, Nicuşor Dan talked about the lack of seriousness: "It is not serious to make a project for Bucharest in three months or in two months, as long as it will be from the moment it is announced". Nicuşor dan's statement comes after the president of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, said that the party has not yet decided the candidate for the General City Hall of the Capital, saying that "there is enough time left". Ciucă specifies that the PNL and PSD are conducting, during this period, opinion polls to determine the possible candidates who "align with the expectations of the citizens". The PSD Bucharest permanent office decided, unanimously, to support the candidacy of Gabriela Firea for the position of mayor of the capital. Officially, the decision of the two parties is to run on separate lists in the local elections, but there are numerous discussions about a common candidate for Bucharest City Hall.
