The means of transportation of the future will be safer, but more expensive

The means of transportation of the future will be far more expensive, due to abandoning conventional fuel, but will also be a lot safer, as the number of accidents will tend to considerably decrease. Even though the planet"s oil reserves are about to be depleted, people still seem unwilling to forego fast transportation and return to carriages pulled by horses. Which is precisely why researchers have been frantically working on designing means of transportation that are no longer reliant on fuels obtained by processing oil. Electric cars are the first alternative, but in a maximum of 100 years, their technology will be obsolete. Pollution will be far reduced, which will provide ecologists with reasons to rejoice.

The major challenge are solar-powered cars. There are already rallies that such cars participate in, but due to various economic interests, they are still not being mass produced. These means are heavily reliant on weather conditions, but this flaw will be fixed in time. Solar panels mounted on the car"s roof, convert solar energy to electricity. There is a major "problem" because the Sun"s energy potential is huge, which removes several link from the energy supply chain. If all the solar energy that reaches the Earth could be converted, it would be enough to cover the needs of the Earth"s population for a year. The production of alternative fuels using plants is also being studied, the so-called green oil. This is one of the alternatives that current producers like, because it closer to the classical system. Rapeseed, soy and sunflower are the main plants used for producing bio-fuel. The technological process isn"t very complicated, meaning that cars based on bio-fuel will be able to successfully compete with electrical cars. The major problem of these fuels is the fact that many agricultural surfaces will be used for their growth, which will imbalance the world"s food market. Electrical cars have already started showing up on the roads, built by well known carmakers. At the moment, they can only travel across relatively small distances, and recharging their batteries takes quite some time. These are only two fuel alternatives for now, but scientists are working on others, far more advanced, but which would allow far greater autonomy and which also wouldn"t affect the design of the end product by much.

People who enjoy driving won"t have too many reasons to enjoy it in the not-so-distant future. Cars without drivers will become commonplace, the first prototypes have already been created. Very expensive cars, that are already on the market, are equipped with cutting edge technologies that allow them to make decisions before the driver, to accelerate or to brake in case of danger. Cars will also communicate using the internet, which could reduce accidents caused by the drivers" distraction. Transportation in the future will most certainly safer and less polluting.
