The Proprietatea Fund has filed 20 lawsuits against the energy companies

So far, the Proprietatea Fund has brought around 20 lawsuits against "Nuclearelectrica", "Hidroelectrica" and the "Craiova Energy Complex". The officials of the ministry told us that the goals of the lawsuits include challenging several decisions of the Boards of Directors, interventions on the requests for the recording of mentions at the Trade Registry, as well as opposition on the new project for the spin-offs / mergers for the creation of the national companies "Electra" and "Hidroenergetica".

The officials also said that all those lawsuits will delay the creation of the two new major energy companies.

The representatives of the Ministry of the Economy claim that they are currently reassessing the situation created by the ongoing lawsuits, which have delayed the creation of the national companies: "In this respect we are acting towards solving the cases which have gone to court, namely by reducing the delays between the hearings and creating the conditions for having the two companies be registered with the Office of the Trade Registry. Given the strategic importance the restructuring of the energy sector has for Romania, in February we will also resume the discussions with the Proprietatea Fund, after its listing on the BSE".
