The president of PNL takes pride in the current coalition led by PSD

The paths of politics are very convoluted, and the chances of navigating them without getting dizzy are very slim. The President of the Senate and leader of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, stated at the RePatriot Summit that in 2021, no one gave the Liberals a chance to form this Coalition, but there was a vision beyond the present, anticipating that more serious challenges were on the horizon. The former prime minister stated: "Back then, it was decided to form this Coalition, bringing together left and right. We managed to govern together for almost 2 years. We went through successive and overlapping crises, which I don't want to discuss because they keep repeating, and we've entered a routine with that argument. What's important is what we do from here on, and through this integrated platform, this networking between Romanians in the country and Romanians in the Diaspora, we can create programs and projects that make Romanians in the Diaspora feel their connection to the homeland, feel that no matter where they are, they can do something for the country because this feeling exists. I've been there and met with them, I've spoken with each of them whenever I could. Recently, I attended an event in Ireland and met with Romanians in Ireland. They are absolutely incredible, and they are not few, and they are not doing small things there; they are not just at the base of activities. They have succeeded in rising up and climbing the hierarchy. They have succeeded in the third generation. It's heartwarming, we take pride in it, but it's sad because they are not at home, and they feel that they are not at home. They want to return home, and for that, we here must do what we need to do to make them decide to come back.' Nicolae Ciucă also talked about the connection with RePatriot: "The connection between me and RePatriot was consolidated in 2018 when we worked together to identify the best and most relevant ways to celebrate the 100 years since the Great Union. We worked together on a project that reverberated and continued afterward because, after properly honoring the War veterans who were still alive at that time, we continued, and that project materialized in measures that truly managed to complete our project of showing gratitude for what the veterans did and what they left us, so that we can live in peace today and enjoy such moments. We managed to increase the allowance and bring it to a decent level, as it should be, and for that, I thank you because together we managed to make this decision.' The President of the Senate emphasized that RePatriot is an integrative platform: "I believe it's a platform, a networking that is beginning to consolidate and produce effects, considering that you are at the 8th edition, and we are together. We all need to be together because ultimately, the goal of this initiative was to bring together Romanians, regardless of where they work, in the country or abroad.' The President of the PNL stated: "Beyond the GDP figures, Romania, after joining NATO and the European Union, had the most dynamic economic growth in Europe, 800%. Indeed, the GDP has grown, and we have surpassed certain countries that we wouldn't have thought we would reach. Yes, but we need to set a goal, establish higher levels of ambition, in order to achieve better results. We are the 6th country in Europe, so we need to become the 6th country in terms of socio-economic development as well. If we set our minds to it, I am convinced that we can do it. When I was Prime Minister, at the end of 2022, we had a nominal GDP increase of 49 billion euros, and we are approaching a GDP of 300 billion euros. So, we should aim to have Romania with a GDP of 500 billion euros by the end of 2027.' The President of the PNL mentioned that we have this potential and stated that he had discussed this issue with business leaders, with Romanian Business Leaders: "This potential exists! In practice, they came and said: Mr. Prime Minister, display this figure somewhere in the background. Romania's GDP is 500 billion euros because it can be done. Each of those in power, regardless of political affiliation, here we are not talking about political colors; we are talking about Romania. Romania can achieve this goal, and this can be done through what was said earlier, that there is no separation between those in power and the others. If we truly want to succeed in such objectives, we must all be together and rekindle that sense of unity, will, and strength because we have it all, but it's left somewhere and we enter a state of complacency. Romania is not a complacent country; Romania is a country with a coat of arms. Romanians are people with a coat of arms. We just need to have confidence, openness to communication, and openness to dialogue.' Confidence exists among politicians; now we'll see the results.
