The board of "Construcţii Aeronautice Ghimbav" will meet today to discuss possible solutions to the company"s current problems.
"We will propose that administrators approve the taking out of a 800,000 loan, as well as taking out a state aid, on the grounds of Government ordinance 206/2008", Traian Tomescu, general manager of the company said yesterday. Government ordinance 206/2008 was issued last year and is intended to help troubled companies, by allowing them to borrow money from the Ministry of Finance. "In case we are not able to pay the loan back after six months, we will decide if the company will continue or not", Tomescu explained. Also on the agenda is the budget for next year. "We talked to our American partners and we asked how soon they expect to have new orders for us, and they said they don"t know. They asked however how long it would take for us to resume work once they did place a new order. it would take us six months to be able to deliver their orders, because we would have to rehire people, put them through training, etc", Tomescu said.
Also, on Friday, the company"s general manager and union leader of the Ghimbav Platform, Şuba Arpad, will try to meet with a state secretary of the Ministry of the Economy to discuss the company"s outlook for 2010. "We don"t think closing down the company is the best alternative, like union members requested, because last year we took this proposal to the Authority for State Assets Recovery, when we were owned by them, and they told us closing own the company was out of the question", Tomescu said, who said that the 800,000 loan would be enough to cover salaries for the April - July period. "This is how we hope to end the lawsuit that our employees opened against us, for which the hearing is set for October 7", Tomescu said.
