The Brasov-based tractor-maker Tractorul shut down on Monday as the last 1,630 workers left the factory. Severance was offered in the form of two average salaries countrywide and a monthly indemnity for up to two years depending on the length of service. The management, technical personnel accountants and security personnel are still employed.
On February 23rd, the Shareholder Meeting decided to liquidate the company and fire all personnel. The State Assets Recovery Authority (AVAS) appointed Gheorghe Pasca as the single administrator of the factory. AVAS is the majority shareholder with 80.18%, followed by SIF Transilvania with 17.15% and others.
