Employees of Tractorul, Rulmentul and Nitramonia picketed the Brasov Prefect"s Office as their employers are facing financial crisis and are behind with salary payments. The three companies have initiated voluntary liquidation procedures and, according to the protesters, the State Assets Recovery Authority (AVAS) must cover the payroll until the employment contracts are actually terminated. AVAS would then recover the funds by selling some of the respective companies" assets. According to union leader George Apostu, the employees should not have to wait until assets are liquidated and that the majority shareholder should ensure the funds temporarily. The situation affects 1,928 employees of the three factories in Brasov County.
