Units 1 and 2 operating at full capacity

"Nuclearelectrica" is ready and operating at full nominal power, being able to supply the necessary electrical power needed to compensate for the lack of natural gas. The general director of "Nuclearelectrica", Teodor Chirica, stated yesterday: "We are aware of the situation in the energy system and we are watching the installations closely. At this time we have a gross output of 1.419 MW, of which 70% is going to the regulated market. By our market share, we are right now an important support for the energy system".

According to Agerpres, the environment license for the operation of Units 1 and 2 of the Nuclearelectric Plant of Cernavodă has been issued. The authorization provides the organization of the activity in the current facilities existing at the location with a total surface of 208.710 square meters, the operation of the nuclear and standard equipment and of the ancillary buildings, for the purpose of producing and distributing electrical and thermal power. The license will be valid for 10 years from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

With its two operational power units, "Nuclearelectrica" is Romania"s second largest producer of electrical power, providing approximately 18% of the domestic power consumption.
