The Silcotub - Zalau union "Metalurgistul Silcotub," an affiliate of CNS Cartel Alfa, is organizing a 2-hour warning strike tomorrow following to failure to achieve a settlement of the employees" claims, union leader Alexandru Rus announced. He added that the warning strike would be followed by an all-out strike if claims remained unsettled.
The employees are asking for an 18% raise as of February 2008, whereas the employer is offering 10% as of February and 12% as of April. The employees are asking also for a 50% extra payment for weekend days, as opposed to 35% offered by the employer. Other claims include higher bonuses for Easter and Christmas, and also for vacations.
The company reported 1,088 employees in April 2008. The average salaries are between 789 RON and 939 RON plus meal tickets. Being a metallurgical unit, such salaries are deemed unsatisfactory by most of the employees.whereas the employer is offering 10% as of February and 12% as of April.
