Young tenants living in homes built by the National Housing Agency (ANL) will be able to buy such homes after five years for the market price payable as a single payment, Development, Public Works and Housing Minister Laszlo Borbely announced.
The funds thus obtained will go to a special funds that will finance the construction of new homes for young tenants. Those who moved into ANL-built homes in 2001-2002 will be able to make purchase as soon as the law is enacted.
"We"ve made a succinct calculation and, for instance, we can sell the homes handed over in 2001-2002. We"re talking about some 2,000 homes of which, let"s say, 65% will be sold. That"s about 60 million EUR for the budget," Borbely said. Those interested in making a purchase should refer to the local authorities for pricing. Upon suggestion from the Council of Europe Development Bank, buyers will not be able to sell for five years.
