ArcelorMittal - Galati Exceeds Investment Plan Pledged Upon Privatization

ArcelorMittal - Galati has exceeded the investment plan pledged upon the privatization of Romania"s largest steel mill, namely 351 million USD by 2010. The company made investments in excess of 500 million USD by end-last year.

"After privatization, we agreed to make investments of 351 million USD by 2010. By the end of 2007, we invested more than 533 million USD. Even greater investments are scheduled for 2008 onwards," said Augustine Kochuparampil, CEO of ArcelorMittal - Galati.

Investments so far include 108 million USD for environment care. The 223 million USD investment budget for 2008 includes 47 million USD for environment care.

ArcelorMittal is the world"s leading steel producer with 320,000 employees in over 60 countries. In Romania, the company controls steel mills in Galati and Hunedoara, pipe producers in Roman and Iasi and the port operator Romportmet - Galati.
