The Conservative Party (PC) will participate in the 2012 regional elections by itself, its chairman Daniel Constantin said yesterday in Piteşti.

In support of its statement, the new leader of the conservatives brought up the collaboration agreement between the Social Democrats and the Conservatives, which concerned the parliamentary elections of 2008, the presidential elections of 2009, and a cooperation on the parliamentary level, but set no electoral targets for 2012.

According to Agerpres, Daniel Constantin explained: "Two of the goals are already behind us, we continue to cooperate in the parliament with the Social-Democratic Party (PSD), just as we want to cooperate with the National Liberal Party, (...), but it is very clearly set in the political agreement we have with the Social Democrats that each party will go with its own list of candidates into the regional elections for 2012".

The leader of the Conservative Party said that some of its member in the rest of the territory want the Conservative Party to part ways with the Social Democrats, but he said those people should concern themselves with getting better results in the next local elections.
