Curiero, a Romanian-based courier company, will be put up for sale in end-2009 at the latest. CEO Bogdan Carcu said he preferred another courier company or an investment fund as buyer. He added that Curiero had been established specifically in order to be sold later. "We will start negotiations at the end of this year, but the sale process itself is complicated and may take up to a year," Carcu said.
By the end of 2008, the company is planning to improve operations, optimize business processes and increase profitability and market share. The number of employees will be optimized by cutting 100 jobs. The Curiero will also start weighing the parcels it carries because it appears that 20-30% of the overall forwarded cargo is moved for free because customers state the wrong parcel weight upon placing an order.
Curiero will invest 1 million EUR in new cars, 100,000 EUR in security and 300,000 EUR in weighing systems. The company is controlled by three individual investors: Bogdan Emilian Minea, George Cosmin Coman and Cosmin Neagu Stefan. Curiero concluded last year with 15 million EUR in turnover, up by 85% from 2006, and estimates a 70% to 25 million EUR for this year.
