EnglishDamen Galati shipyard completed the construction of a vessel worth 18 million EUR, built together with 12 other subcontractors, Romanian and foreign. The vessel is a Damen container feeder 800TEU, optimized for the transport of 804 containers and will enter into service for German company Schiphard GMBH&CO.KG under the name Karin Schepers. She is the 14th out of a series of 22 vessels of the same type and willl be delivered to her owner in approximately four months. Karin Schepers will sail the Baltic and North Seas.
The Galati shipyard has already built 13 such vessels, the beneficiaries being two German companies. The other 8 vessels out of this series will be delivered by end- 2009. Damen Galati shipyard ended last year with a gross profit of 11.03 million EUR, an 80% increase from the past year.
