The company "Electromontaj" will reach a 250 million lei turnover for 2008, up 50 million lei from last year. Mihai Valeriu, the company"s president, stated on Friday, in Arad, that the gross estimated profit for 2008, is approximately 6-8% of the company"s turnover. Mr. Valeriu announced that Electromontaj recently won tenders for energy installation works in Cyprus, United Arab Emirates and Jordan. The Cyprus contracts have a worth of some 16 million Euros, those of the United Arab Emirates amount to 18 million dollars, and those of Jordan are worth some 15 million euros. Mihai Valeriu hopes that 2009 will not bring about a shrinking of the Romanian companies investments in electricity transport and distribution systems. Mr. Valeriu explained: "The international financial crisis might significantly reduce the electricity consumption. This could lead to lower revenues for the electricity transport and distribution operators. Faced with the risk of reduced local business, we have decided to participate in foreign auctions so as to maintain in 2009 a turnover similar to that of 2008". "Electromontaj" presently employs some 1600 employees and two factories which produce equipment for the transport and distribution of electrical energy.
