In the county of Iaşi, 410,000 sqm of land were removed from agricultural use, in the first five months of 2009. To this end, over 624 licenses were issued. Also, 68 additional licenses were issued by the Office of the Land Registry and Real Estate Publicity (OCPI) Iaşi for temporary removal from the agricultural circuit of almost 43,000 sqm. By June 2008, OCCPI Iaşi issued 168 more licenses YOY and the surface of land removed from agricultural use has increased by almost 160,000 sqm. During the first five months of the year, the largest removals from the agricultural circuit (147,876 sqm) occurred in the Miroslava commune. In most cases, these plots of land were used for the erecting villas. Other towns where large plots of land of were removed from agricultural use include: Bălţaţi (62,429 sqm) and Podu Iloaiei (26,887 sqm). Places where the removals of land from agricultural use were were the lowest include Şipote (92.50 sqm), Cozmeşti (98.40 sqm) and Ţigănaşi (100 sqm). During the first months of 2009, OCPI Iaşi has issued 707 new ownership certificates. The OCPI now has 183,779 registered ownership certificates, with 182,474 certificates concerning farming land, and 1,305 certificates of ownership of forestland. The total surface for which ownership certificates were released is 287,919 hectares of agricultural land and 12,018 hectares of forestland.
