The Mayoralty of Bucharest"s first district invested 143,987,000 lei in rehabilitation, consolidation, modernization, and maintenance works for almost 100 school buildings.
According to a press release sent to our editors, the rehabilitation works contracted for this year were 80% complete at the end of August, and they are expected to be fully completed by September 1st. Thus, all the primary and secondary school buildings will receive their sanitation license, and the Mayoralty of the First District of Bucharest is set to finish the sanitization of kindergartens, schools and high schools in its care.
The Mayoralty of the 1st District last year acquired four buildings to be used as kindergartens, which will be commissioned starting September 2009. The mayoralty so far consolidated over 80% of the schools which were managed by the Local Council and which presented seismic risk. 22 kindergartens, schools and high schools underwent consolidation, which leaves four other education units for which maintenance has not yet been completed.
