Oger Telecom May Invest In Fixed Telephony In Romania

Oger Telecom and their Turkish division Turk Telecom are interested in investing in fixed telephony in Romania and Slovenia, according to Reuters. Saudi Oger is negotiating with Vivendi and several others for the sale of a minority stake in the Arab operator. According to sources close to the negotiations, Vivendi would like to buy up to 33% in Oger Telecom.

Concurrently, preparations are made for Turk Telecom"s IPO, which could take place next year. "The management of Turk Telecom has a duty to prepare the company for an IPO, whereas the Government will decide the time, depending on market conditions and price estimates," Paul Doany said.

Oger Telecom is a fixed and mobile telephony operator and an internet service provider operating in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, South Africa and Turkey. Y2006 revenues amounted to 5.79 billion USD, whereas net profit stood at 1.28 billion USD.
