Ştefăniţă Munteanu, godson of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, remains the president of the Transelectrica Directorate following the recruitment process that took place in recent months. In addition to Munteanu, the other members of the Directorate are: Victor Moraru, resigned vice-president from the super-agency of state companies AMEPIP, Florin Tătaru and Cătălin Nadolu - these two practically renewed their mandates, and Cosmin Nicula, former vice-president of the Court of Accounts of Romania. According to sources from Transelectrica, it seems that Nicula was imposed in the last moments as a member of the Directorate by members of the Supervisory Council close to PNL, who did not agree with Gheorghe's promotion to the effective management structure of the national company Bolintineanu, general manager of SMART SA and president of PSD Ilfov.
Regarding the renewal of Florin Tătaru's mandate as a member of the Transelectrica Directorate, the same sources from within the national company told us that probably the change in the initial position that he had in the case of the Vădeni 1 and Vădeni 2 projects was taken into account in making that decision. , giving approval for the signing of contracts, even if at the time of signing he delegated his signature and preferred to go on leave. The cited sources claim that Tataru's signature escape was based on the fact that the National Anti-Corruption Directorate has a criminal file in which all activities related to the Vădeni 1 and Vădeni 2 projects are being investigated in rem (regarding the facts committed).
The new Directorate of Transelectrica will manage the nine projects for the development of the national energy infrastructure financed with 424 million euros from the Modernization Fund. This fund represents a financing instrument constituted by the revenues obtained by auctioning on the market 2% of the total greenhouse gas emissions certificates, based on the provisions of the EU-ETS Directive and was established for the period 2021-2030. Our country has an allocation of 11.98% of the total of 2% of the total quantity of certificates for the period 2021-2030, which represents more than 15 billion euros, an amount that it can use to finance energy investments.
Transelectrica is the state company that holds the monopoly of electricity transport in Romania. The company's board consists of five members, the company being managed in a dual system, i.e. both by the Board and by the Supervisory Board. The main shareholder of Transelectrica is the Romanian State, through the General Secretariat of the Government, with 58%, followed by Pavăl Holding (the company of the Pavăl brothers who founded Dedeman) with 6.4% and the NN pension fund with 5.4%.
The state company Transelectrica, the operator of the high voltage network and the national energy system, recorded at the end of last year a net profit of 219 million lei, down 57% compared to 2022, due to the fact that in 2023 there were no revenues from CPT capitalization at the level of the amount from the similar period of the previous year (13.8 million lei in 2023 vs 338.5 million lei in 2022), according to a document published at the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
