• "If the state doesn't get involved, we don't stand a chance with China, all we're going to have left to do will be to sell T-shirts", according to Cristian Pârvan
Romania talked a lot and did little in the area of the relations with China, considers Cristian Pârvan, the secretary general of the Businesspeople Association of Romania (AOAR). He said that when it comes to the economic ties to the People's Republic of China, it is the government that needs to get involved and only then the private sector.
"China isn't Germany. In China we need to get involved through the institutions of our govern-ment first. If the institutions of the Romanian state don't get involved, we don't stand a chance with China, all that will be left for us to will be to sell T-shirts", said Cristian Pârvan.
According to him, it is a little late now to be promoting our products on the Chinese market, because the major countries have already established economic and commercial relations with China. In the opinion of the representative of AOAR, the only chance would be for the state to have some clear, well structured projects: "One example would be the project of Cernavodă. The question is whether it is advanced enough to convince the Chinese to invest in it. The main problem is that the state has been very indecisive when it comes to its stake in the company which handles the project".
In unison with other businesspeople, Cristian Pârvan claims that Chinese investors want to see details such as how long it would take to recoup the investment included in the project from the beginning.
