Attracting top-performing Olympians to our country's universities is a priority for domestic education. A total of 68 young individuals with outstanding academic achievements and results in national and international Olympiads who choose to pursue their university studies in Romania will benefit from funding of over 3.7 million lei for research and development activities and innovation. The Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization has announced the signing of funding contracts with nine universities across the country, whose students have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and solid results in national and international Olympiads. "Investing in the future: after six years, we have managed to unlock funding for the "King Carol I Young Researchers Grant' program! 68 brilliant high school students will receive scholarships ranging from 1,000 to 6,000 euros annually for their fantastic achievements in Olympiads, to continue their studies in the country, and to take Romania to the next level through research and innovation," said Minister Bogdan Ivan. Thus, for international Olympiad winners, the following grants are awarded: 6,000 euros per year for gold medalists/1st prize; 5,500 euros per year for silver medalists/2nd prize; 4,000 euros per year for bronze medalists/3rd prize; 3,500 euros for an honorable mention. For national Olympiad winners, the grants are as follows: 4,000 euros per year for gold medalists/1st prize; 3,500 euros per year for silver medalists/2nd prize; 3,000 euros per year for bronze medalists/3rd prize; 2,500 euros for an honorable mention. In addition to these grants, support is provided for: participation in international scientific events and/or for the protection of intellectual property rights - 1,000 euros/year for each grantee; for a team composed of at least two students, with at least one Olympian, from one or more universities, for materials, subassemblies, and subcontracting for the development of technological demonstrators or the promotion of ideas developed as a team, which are presented and ranked in prestigious international competitions - 3,500 euros/year/team. The total budget of the program is 3,740,748.80 lei. The 9 universities with which funding contracts have been signed are: the National School of Political and Administrative Studies, Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Dunărea de Jos University in Galaţi, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University in Iaşi, Transilvania University in Braşov, Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, and Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iaşi.
