Modern man's love for smart phones is evident and despite some slight dips due to external factors, this is very well seen in terms of sales. According to preliminary data published by IDC, 289.4 million smartphones were shipped globally in the first quarter of this year. Following this development, the smartphone market grew by 7.8% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. After Apple dominated the market last year, the first quarter of this year brought an important decline for the American manufacturer, along with a recovery and growth for Samsung. Apple was the manufacturer with the biggest decline in the top 5, with iPhone sales falling 9.6% over the same period, which put Apple in second place. The market leader was Samsung, with 60.1 million units delivered and a 20.8% market share. Xiaomi, Transsion and Oppo are the manufacturers that complete, in this order, the top five largest manufacturers, with significant increases of 33.8% and 84.9% respectively in the case of the first two. Even if there are fluctuations at the level of producers, in terms of sales as a whole the trends are increasing.
