The overall volume of construction works grew 26.9% in the first nine months of 2008 compared to the corresponding period of 2007. The National Statistics Institute (INS) announced yesterday that the growth concerned all construction types: non-residential +34.4%, civil engineering +25.7% and residential +21.6%. Capital repair works gained 31.5% while maintenance and minor repairs gained 30.5%. The volume of new constructions increased by 24.3%.
The overall volume of construction works decreased by 8.4% in November 2008 compared to October 2008. The INS report points to a 19.3% decrease in civil engineering and a 0.8% decrease in residential construction. However, non-residential constructions managed to achieve a 9.5% progress. Capital repair works declined by 20.1%, while new constructions regressed 8.3%. Maintenance and minor repairs regressed 1.7%.
The overall volume of construction works gained 13.4% in November 2008 compared to November 2007. Divided by types of works, non-residential gained 42.5%, followed by civil engineering with 6.9% and residential with 4.1%. Current maintenance and minor repairs advanced 43.3%, capital repairs by 35.9% and new constructions by 0.9%.
