The management of UEFA, concerned about the security of EURO 2024

The security of major sports competitions is an increasingly expensive concern for organizers. Security and protection devices are increasingly crowded due to multiple threats. The President of the European Football Union (UEFA), Aleksander Ceferin, has designated security as the main priority for EURO 2024, which will take place this summer in Germany. "The world is going crazy. In these crazy times when the world is going geo-strategically crazy, the biggest concern is security," explained the Slovenian in an interview for the English newspaper The Telegraph. The 2024 European Championship will begin with two major conflicts involving UEFA members: between Russia and Ukraine, on the one hand, and between Israel and Palestine, on the other. Ceferin indicated that he spoke twice with German Interior Minister Nancy Faser, who is also responsible for sports. They would meet again to discuss a "completely aggressive situation", as expressed by the UEFA president. "My fear is not only related to the stadiums, because I am sure they will be sufficiently protected. But the supporters will be everywhere in the cities," he continued. Ceferin also admitted that the eventual participation of Ukraine or Israel (who have yet to play in the play-offs) could add an additional dimension to the security of the tournament.

However, the Slovenian asked people to be optimistic. "I think everything will go well with the support of the German authorities, who are determined to help us," he said. Romania's national team is one of the teams that will participate in the competition that will start on June 14 in Munich and end on July 14 in Berlin.
