In 2010, The National Salt Company ("Salrom") had a net profit of almost 6 million lei, according to the Official Gazette. Thus, it has increased over 13 times over the net profit recorded in 2009 (437,001 lei), according to data from the website of the Ministry of Public Finance. The shareholders of "Salrom" have decided to allocate last year"s profit as follows: approximately 1.54 million lei for the legal reserves, around 690 million lei for covering the accounting loss, and over 2 million lei to cover other reserves which represent fiscal facilities stipulated by the law. The amount of 1.54 million lei will be paid out as dividends, and 171,201 lei will cover other reserves set up as own sources of funding.
In 2009, the National Salt Company had a turnover of 188.4 million lei.
The majority shareholder of "Salrom" is the Ministry of the Economy, Trade, and Business Environment which owns 51%. The remaining 49% is owned by the Proprietatea Fund.
