In just three days, "The news factory" became the most unfortunately chosen title that anyone could have come up with for a show of "Realitatea" TV.
After the transcripts which went public, which show how Vîntu asked the heads of his group to turn his mass media companies into simple executants of his orders, people might take the title "The news factory" a little too literally.
This is disastrous to the reputation of a news TV channel.
In one the transcripts, Vîntu is saying to Sergiu Toader, the head of "Realitatea TV", that after Mircea Geoană lost the presidential election, the credibility of the "Realitatea TV" group tumbled, albeit not as much as that of the three Antena TV stations owned by Dan Voiculescu.
Vîntu says he kept some "backups" ("Radio Guerrilla", Radio "Realitatea FM" and the "Academia Caţavencu" magazine) which he didn"t use to fight Traian Băsescu (one could infer that, conversely, Voiculescu engaged all his media units in the war against the president).
Thus, Vîntu confirms the similarity between the deliberate manipulation that the two media groups engaged in.
However, it isn"t worth much, because it just confirms what the public had already noticed.
The current collapse of the credibility of the "Realitatea" media group, due to the effect of the transcripts which were made public, has also affected the three "Antena" TV stations owned by Dan Voiculescu, which everyone knows are engaged in manipulative tactics at the behest of their owner, that very much resemble those perpetrated by the media units owned by Vîntu.
Almost two thirds of the "central" mass-media has lost its credibility.
In this context, young "Mr. Gâdea" of Antena 3 stated outright in Monday"s "Daily synopsis", that the aforementioned transcripts are not matters of public interest.
In other words, the public shouldn"t be concerned with the fact that it"s being manipulated.
"Mr. Gâdea", I think the public doesn"t give care about what you claim anymore.
• "The manipulation of the public is not a matter of public interest"
In Monday"s "Daily Synopsis" show, Mihai Gâdea of Antena 3 said:
"Today, we saw several transcripts of the conversations between the owner of a TV station and several journalists. Under normal circumstances it would be tempting to look at the matter and comment on it.
But then you get to thinking whether such an action would be inappropriate, since those conversations were private, they have no direct connection to any trial, there is no justification for assuming they are of public interest, and you"re left wondering if it isn"t just a matter of political persecution".
