Dinu Patriciu was a personality who has left a mark on the transition period, both in politics and in business.
In the beginning of 1990 he set up the very first private company in Romania, called Alpha Construcţii şi Investiţii Imobiliare, and the same year, he became a founding member of the National Liberal Party.
After the sale of the Petromidia refinery, he was considered the richest Romanian, in 2007, with a fortune estimated at over 3 billion dollars. Last year however, Dinu Patriciu was no longer a part of the chart of the richest people, due to having made less-than-stellar investments.
Over the last few years, Dinu Patriciu has been involved more in lawsuits than in business and politics. At the time of his death, the businessman had three lawsuits ongoing and was being investigated in another case by the National Department for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism.
Dinu Patriciu has left a trail in BURSA, which can be followed across a large number of articles we published.
We are selecting the fragments that seem the most appropriate in light of the moment, leaving aside those that were more on the side of pamphlets.
