Consumer goods distribution company Top Brands Distribution (TBD) will invest over 1 million EUR to expand the distribution network to eight new counties - Alba, Bistrita, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita, Prahova, Mures and Sibiu. The company will hire 90 new people, enlarge the car fleet and secure new office space and logistic centers.
"In terms of economy, Bucharest stopped being the equivalent of the entire Romania a long time ago. If we want to grow above the market average, we need to make these investments, which will seriously boost our turnover. There are areas with a great potential, where revenues have grown significantly and where massive investments have been made in retail infrastructure. I expect that our expansion will lead to a 20-25% increase in turnover," said TBD CEO Wael El Ghadban.
"The absence of the needed infrastructure is still an important problem for all the players on this market. In many places, the quality of the roads is very poor, whereas in other areas, we"re dealing with 19th Century infrastructure," he added.
"Top Brands Distribution is the main distributor for Philip Morris Romania and Kraft Foods Romania. The company"s sales force comprises 200 professionals catering to the needs of 20,000 customers in Bucharest and 18 counties. TBD concluded 2007:H1 with 95 million EUR in turnover, up by 27% y/y.
