Global port operator DP World, which has also been present in Constanţa, since 2003, has seen an exponential increase in handled volumes, exceeding one million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) in 2007 and 2008. Since launching its Romanian operations, DP World Constanta became the main hub at the Black Sea.
"We are happy to have been nominated the best port operator in Constanţa for six years straight, by the Port Authority and the Constanţa Chamber of Commerce", the officials of DP World said.
According to them, thanks to its infrastructure and the fact that it provides access to the European Union, has the potential to become an important gateway for Central and Eastern Europe, providing advantages to importers and exporters, and the European community in general".
Dubai-based DP World announced that in 2010, the volume it handled through its 50 terminals of 28 countries was 49.6 million TEU, up 14% over 2009.
