Dual education represents a real opportunity for the economic environment, which is facing an increasingly acute shortage of specialists. The first dual education campus in Prahova will be realized with funds obtained from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), and the financing contract worth 30 million euros was signed by the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, and the President of the County Council (CJ), Iulian Dumitrescu. The project "Academic Consortium Mehedinţeanu Petroleum - PH01CAMP" is developed by CJ Prahova, in partnership with the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti, "Lazăr Edeleanu" High School, and OMV Petrom, and will include accommodation facilities, a sports base, relaxation and leisure areas, state-of-the-art laboratories, and administrative buildings, according to the County Council.
The President of the County Council of Prahova, Iulian Dumitrescu, stated: "Prahova in the first place means a county where young people, regardless of their material condition, benefit from the best conditions and a performance-oriented education adapted to the labor market. It also means good collaboration with the business environment and educational institutions. Consistently, we have fought for the development of higher education and technical education in our county and for keeping the best minds from Prahova here, offering opportunities and infrastructure at high standards. The fact that we manage to attract 30 million euros in European funds for the realization of this integrated campus for professional and technical education represents an important success of the County Council. I want to thank our partners who made this success possible." The two fundamental objectives of the project are to create opportunities for professional and academic development for students in Prahova and to support Prahova companies with well-prepared workforce to face the challenges of the future. The project has an approved total value of 149,352,292 lei. The deadline for the investment to be completed and put into use is June 30, 2026.
