Garanti Bank offers higher interest rates to customers opening term deposits through the internet banking system, according to a press release by the bank. Such deposits will receive an additional 0.5% over the standard interest rate upon opening a deposit in lei, for any maturity (1, 3, 6 or 12 months). Also, customers who open deposits in lei and dollars will receive an additional 0.25% for any type of deposit opened through the internet banking service.
Another novelty brought about by the internet banking service, Garanti Online, consists of the ability to make inter-bank transfers and exchange money into Hungarian Forint (HUF), aside from two other currencies which were previously available, such as Euros, dollars, pound sterling, Turkish lira and Swiss Franks.
