Seniority can be completed by the end of next year

The acquisition of length of service, necessary for retirement at the age limit, has been extended until the end of 2024, according to an emergency ordinance approved yesterday by the Government, the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity announced in a press release.

Interested persons can purchase seniority for a period of no more than 6 years prior to the date of conclusion of the social insurance contract. Payment of the contribution can be made in a single installment or in monthly installments, but no later than December 31, 2024.

"Romanian citizens from the country or abroad who are not pensioners and who have not been insured in the public pension system can buy length of service. This form of insurance is addressed to all people who wish to complete their contribution period in order to grant the old-age pension, respecting the standard retirement age of 65 years for men and 63 years for women", the statement states.

According to the cited source, the income for which the social insurance contribution is paid must be at least equal to the gross minimum basic salary per country guaranteed in payment, in force on the date of conclusion of the insurance contract.

At the same time, Law no. 263/2010 was supplemented with a new article, which stipulates that the certificates issued by employers or by the legal holders of archives, as well as the documents necessary for the establishment and/or recalculation of pension rights issued according to the legal provisions in force, are certified by stamp and signature holograph of the head of the entity or the person delegated in this regard.

The emergency ordinance adopted by the Executive also provides for the extension of the validity period of the approvals for placing jobs under special conditions, whose validity period is September 1, 2023. Thus, the jobs classified under special working conditions, based on the approvals of whose validity has been extended until 01.09.2023 are considered places in special conditions, until the employer normalizes the working conditions. The jobs classified under special conditions, based on the approvals obtained as a result of the revaluation procedure established by the Government Decision, are maintained under the same conditions.

"Also, considering that an employee of the territorial pension house serves approximately 1,800 pensioners, which in the current conditions is over the working limit and generates delays in the settlement of pension files and dissatisfaction among beneficiaries, taking into account also the commitments assumed in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the term of inclusion in the category of contractual functions was extended, until August 31, 2024, for the 1,000 positions through which the evaluation of pension files was ensured for the purpose of recalculation", the cited source also states .

The extension of this term was necessary for the provision of support in the next stage as well, which consists of retrieving information from the electronic archive of work records and correlating them with the data related to the processed work records, their interconnection with the already existing database, as well as for the recalculation effective pensions in payment.
