The Anonymous International Film Festival officially closed its doors, not before awarding several trophies. The Iranian feature film "Terrestrial Verses", written and directed by Ali Asgari and Alireza Khatami, won the Anonymous Trophy 2023. The film presented in the world premiere this year at Cannes, in the official Un Certain Regard section, presents the story of ordinary people navigating through the constraints social, in a series of cliches and pre-illustrated images, inform the organizers. "Terrestrial Verses" received the grand prize worth 3,000 euros. The five fiction feature films that competed this year for the big trophy are: "Fremont" (United States of America), directed by Babak Jalali, "Stella In Love" (France), by Sylvie Verheyde, "Terrestrial Verses" (Iran) , by Ali Asgari and Alireza Khatami, "Legua" (Portugal, France, Italy), by Filipa Reis and Joao Miller Guerra, and "The Quarrel" (India), by Sanal Kumar Sasidharana. The selection in the feature film competition was made by Ludmila Cvikova. The best Romanian short film was chosen "Night Training", by Bogdan Alexandru. The film received a prize worth 1,000 euros. The prize for the best foreign short film, also worth 1,000 euros, went to the film "Amok" (Hungary-Romania), by Balazs Turai. "Where the boats don't reach", directed by Vlad Buzăianu, is the short film to which the Anonymous Foundation awarded the "Ovidiu Bose Paştină" Prize, worth 1,000 euros. The Romanian short film competition included 12 titles, the same number of films being found in the international short film competition. The selection for both sections was made by film critic Ionuţ Mareş. The director of Japanese origin, Naomi Kawase, was honored with the Anonymous Trophy for her contribution to the beauty of universal cinema. The 20th edition of the Anonimul International Independent Film Festival, presented by actor Sorin Miron, took place in Sfântu Gheorghe - Danube Delta. The event brought together, apart from the films from the competitions, ten Romanian feature films. The audience of the festival could see, in the national premiere, the newest film signed by Radu Jude - "Don't expect too much from the end of the world", recently awarded at Locarno. Even before the release in cinemas, "Mammalia" directed by Sebastian Mihăilescu, "Tigru" by Andrei Tănase, Liviu Mărghidan's latest directorial project, "Castelul Crăiţei", and the documentary films "Arsenie. Viaţa" were also screened at the festival from then on" directed by Alexandru Solomon, "All rivers flow into the sea and the sea never fills" by Claudiu Mitcu and "Between revolutions" signed by Vlad Petri. The screenings of all the films from the Anonimul selection took place in the Green Dolphin campsite. The festival included several related events. Filmmakers participating in the festival took part in an open discussion from the Anonimul Talks series, which brought the audience into direct dialogue with actors Vlad Ivanov and Ilinca Manolache, directors Alexandru Solomon and Emanuel Pârvu, producers Ada Solomon and Miruna Berescu, selectors Ludmila Cvikova, Ionuţ Mareş and filmmaker Laurenţiu Damian - president of the Union of Romanian Filmmakers.
