EnglishThe level of the total excise in effect this year is 76.6 Euros/1,000 cigarettes, according to the officials of the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP), which states that the total level of the cigarette excise for the 2011-2018 period was set by way of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 117/2010 for the amendment and completion of the Law no. 571/2003 concerning the Fiscal Code and several financial and fiscal measures.
Based on the provisions of the Emergency Ordinance no. 29/2009 for the modification of the Law no. 571/2003 concerning the fiscal code, the total level of the cigarette excise, valid between January 1st 2010-December 31st 2010, was 74 Euro/1,000 cigarettes, the quoted sources said.
The exchange rate that will be used for calculating the excise for the year 2011 is 4.2655 lei/euro, whereas for 2010 it was 4.2688 lei/Euro, according to the Ministry of Public Finance.
