EnglishAustrian-based Vienna Insurance Group has increased their stake in Romania"s Asirom to 98.5% following purchases from minority shareholders. The Austrian insurer had previously reported ownership of 66.33% in Asirom after the purchase of 16.35% for 80 million RON through buyout bid to minority shareholders.
"The rapid increase in our stake in Asirom SA is an important success for the group. As majority shareholder in Asirom we have strengthened our position as leader on the Romanian insurance market," said CEO Gunter Geyer.
He believes the Romanian insurance market has the potential to grow on all segment as it is one of the most effervescent markets in CEE. Before the increase in Vienna Insurance Group"s stake, significant share packages were registered to Damrosch Trading Limited (9.48%), Tarkul Estates Limited (5.39%) and Waterwe Ventures Limited (9.55%).
