Why is Băsescu silent?

Why is Băsescu silent?

It's been a week since I wrote that "Traian Băsescu is now keeping silent. His silence is deafening; it is as silent around him as if he were in the dark, at the bottom of the ocean, ("Băsescu, face to face with the people he's turned his back on"/ BURSA, August 23rd, 2012), and in the interim, his silence has become jarring - the Constitutional Court has read its decision to invalidate the referendum before the parliament, the Parliament acknowledged it, the decision was published in the Official Gazette, and he is back in Cotroceni, - yes, HE is there!, Zeus is there!, -, but he is silent.

On Tuesday morning, Traian Băsescu returned to the Cotroceni palace, after 10:00, he has reappointed the advisors dismissed by Antonescu, but he is silent.

Zeus has swallowed his tongue.

Why?!

That is quite a riddle!

Both his supporters and his opponents (and those who aren't either, if you don't mind), all know why: he can't make even the slightest sound, not even burp, without kicking the hornets' nest of the millions of citizens who voted to have him dismissed.

I said it about a week ago, the only word that would be the right choice in this situation would be "I am resigning!"

I bet that Băsescu also knows this.

Băsescu can't ignore the fact that:

- over 7 million people voted against his return to the Cotroceni palace;

- the procedure for his suspension/dismissal can be resumed at any time, after a possible modification of the legislation (by eliminating the quorum requirement) or the accurate update of the permanent electoral lists;

- every day of the shameful return to Cotroceni will be "brightened" by protests in front of it;

- every day of "cohabitation" will cause additional problems to the country and its citizens and will generate arguments in support of attempting to dismiss him again.

He is staying silent.

Silence can be used for tergiversation.

Why is Băsescu silent?

Is he stalling for time?

Is he taking pictures of his backyard?

Is he collecting flowers for his herbarium?

I doubt it.

Perhaps he is getting ready for the wedding of his younger daughter with her boyfriend nicknamed "Syda", in Snagov, in one big tent. It would have to be one very big tent to accommodate all the heads of the PDL branches that would be gathered together, all those who, before the local elections, were prefects or presidents of the County Councils, as well as the leaders of the central organization of the PDL.

Maybe he is so happy that he is about to become a father-in-law again, that he has forgotten about us.

Or maybe he didn't.

Maybe he got concerned over the argument which took place two days ago, between Elena Udrea and the leader of the New Republic, Mihail Neamţu: "They [ed. note: the people of the New Republic] seem just as infected by the < Antena 3 virus > as the people whom they criticize every day about allowing themselves to be fooled by the media group owned by Dan Voiculescu", she said, and in reply, Mihail Neamţu called her "the queen of skilifts".

Indeed, while we have not yet heard "The king is dead!", we can already hear the "Long live the king!" cry on the side of Băsescu.

Băsescu has not found yet a successor for himself, and already his supporters are busy counting the chickens before they're hatched.

That could be one reason for the silence.

But most likely, Băsescu is only silent in public.

I think that at this time, he speaks to a lot of people, and he is constantly making plans.

I think he is negotiating.

I don't know for sure that is indeed what he's doing, but judging by how discreet he's been - that must be it.

What could be he be negotiating on, you ask?

Cohabitation?

Cohabitation isn't to his benefit, nor to that of his opponents.

Is he negotiating a new majority in the Parliament that would allow him to replace the government?

He wishes!

Does he have that much money?

If he succeeds in doing that, than the richest members of the Parliament will be those of the UDMR, the UNPR and the national minorities, who had already had their fill upon the formation of the majority by the USL, meaning that their rates have gone up.

Come on folks, don't be foolish!, go for broke, ask for more, you deserve it!

You've been good servants, anyone can rely on you.

But maybe he is negotiating his resignation.

Perhaps he is negotiating his resignation.

There is a rumor that Băsescu, Antonescu and Ponta are getting ready for a collective resignation.

Maybe it's just a rumor without any foundation.

But it would certainly be the most morally appropriate.
