The Board of Abrom - Barlad yesterday approved the initiation of dissolution procedures following a formal request from the State Assets Recovery Authority (AVAS). Nevertheless, an unexpected chance came along on Wednesday, when the Government issued an emergency ordinance postponing insolvency procedures against 28 companies, Abrom included, for six months. Under these circumstances, Abrom could contemplate privatization. Board Chairman Stefan Bigu said the company had no option but liquidation, as debts and penalties amounted to over 300 billion ROL. Some investors from France, Germany and Romania expressed interest in the company, but nothing is remotely certain.
