MTI Impex SRL of Ghimbav, a member of French group Lapeyre, has announced that it would end its activity on June 30.
The decision was made by the French group following careful internal, economic and organizational analyses. "Lapeyre Group has decided to focus its operations and activities on the French market alone. The decision to abandon local manufacturing follows from this", a press release of the company states.
Present in Romania since back in 2007 as part of the French group Lapeyre, MTI Impex SRL manufactures and sells materials and wood parts for interior decorations, as well as interior doors and stairs, exterior doors and wood panels.
The French bought the company in September 2007 from businessman Gabriel Matei Cornea. Between 2008 and 2014, the company's turnover tripled, up to approximately 30 million lei. The company did not post any profit in any of those years, seeing combined losses of approximately 64 million lei (over 15 million Euros).
"The 120 employees of the company that have permanent employment contracts will receive severance pay and will also benefit from a support and counseling program to find new jobs quickly", says Florin Costescu, the managing director of MTI Impex SRL. Thus, the employees of MTI will benefit from a social aid plan, which will provide them support to get a new job through professional conversion and reconversion sessions, professional orientation and reorientation, specialization classes with certification and other types of support. Furthermore, up until the time of the definitive closing down of the plant, all of the company's liabilities will be honored within the delays agreed upon with the suppliers.
The manufacturing activity of MTI Impex will continue until the delivery of all the contracted orders.
