Steel plant Mechel Campia Turzii, listed on Rasdaq, yesterday reported a gross profit of 3.69 million RON (over 1.1 million EUR) for the first quarter, according to a report to Rasdaq, quoted by NewsIn. The company ended the first three months of 2006 with a loss of 12.5 million RON. First quarter turnover amounted to 120.3 million RON (35.9 million EUR), increasing by 44.71% from 83.13 million RON in the same period last year.
Mechel Campia Turzii ended 2006 with losses of 27.73 million RON (8.2 million EUR), three times less than in the past year, when the company posted losses of over 88 million RON. Turnover rose by 28.8%, totaling 424.79 million RON (125,6 million EUR).
In August last year, Mechel Campia Turzii increased its share capital by 13.075 million RON (3.7 million EUR), from 218.22 million RON to 231.30 million RON (65.1 million EUR). The majority shareholder is Mechel International Holding AG with 86.04% in the company, followed by financial investments company SIF 1 Banat-Crisana with 11.54%.
