Investments in energy efficiency lead to a decrease in consumption, says Ovidiu Demetrescu, partner of OCD Capital & Resource and London Brokers, adding that, on the other hand, there will be an increase in electricity consumption in the transport sector.
He told us: "I cannot say whether Romania will remain a net exporter of energy this year because there are many unknowns in this equation. We have to take into account the fact that Romania added 1.5 - 2 TWh of production to the installed capacity of 1.5 GW from prosumers alone. However, this production is no longer found in the consumption of those who have installed such energy production facilities, which means that it is possible to reduce consumption a little".
Ovidiu Demetrescu added: "Another very important factor is the investments in energy efficiency that lead to a decrease in consumption. Industrial activity will also affect energy consumption. We will see an increase in electricity consumption coming from the transport sector where electric mobility is gaining more and more ground".
