The local away-from-home (AfH) market is worth some 10 million EUR, equal to one quarter of the Central and Eastern European market, according to Paper Plus, the leader of the local market. Poland is the most developed such market in the region with 15 million EUR, followed by Romania with some 10 million EUR. CEE markets are still in an early development stage, but their growth pace is 20-30%, which is 10 times higher than on the mature markets. If Romania maintains the current growth rate on this market, the cap separating it from Poland will be filled in 2-3 years, according to Paper Plus.

"Romania"s integration in the European Union has greatly contributed to this growth, as institutions, HoReCa businesses and office buildings have to comply with EU norms, requiring a minimum set of personal hygiene equipment," said Paper Plus General Manager Marian Ivan. Amid growing demand, Paper Plus concluded H1 with a 40% y/y increase in turnover to 1 million EUR. Estimates for this year include sales of 1,000 tons of paper. Among others, the company sells paper rolls, paper towels, tissues and dispensers.
