The EURO 2024 trophy has stopped in Bucharest

The national team did not play a single match at the final tournament of EURO 2024, but the coveted cup has already arrived in Bucharest. The UEFA EURO 2024 Championship trophy was presented to supporters in the Capital at an event organized by Betano, as the official global sponsor of the tournament. Players Florinel Coman and Darius Olaru (both from FCSB), Nicusor Bancu and David Lazar (both from Craiova University) participated in the event that took place on the ground floor of Unirea Shopping Center. Former international Ciprian Marica stated on this occasion that Belgium is the main favorite in the European Championship group and that the Romanian national football team must bring the element of surprise: "We come from a good background, we have good energy. I for one have faith in the national team, although it is not easy. We are not favourites, we cannot talk about easy matches, we hope to make a good figure and make the Romanians proud. Belgium is clearly the favourite, but we have to come with the element of surprise and make a nice EURO. I think it's very important that we managed to get there. 2024 is a good year for us to mark a historic qualification for the European Championship, which we have to take very seriously. Let's keep this note of optimism that we can get out of the groups, but at the same time let's be realistic that Romania is not on that podium of the important leagues and that the players are really struggling, but we have to trust them and be with them". The former striker was happy to be able to touch the European Championship trophy: "I am proud to be at such an important event as an ambassador of the global sponsor UEFA EURO 2024. It is a unique moment for me as well, because I did not have the opportunity to see so far this trophy. I would have liked to have the opportunity to hold the trophy in my hand at a European Championship. OK, I had the opportunity to play, but to touch the trophy is something else."

Romania was assigned to Group E at the final tournament of the European Football Championship - EURO 2024, along with Belgium, Slovakia and the winner of play-off B. The last component of Romania's group at EURO 2024, which will be hosted by Germany between 14 June and July 14, it will be decided between the winners of the semifinals Bosnia-Herzegovina - Ukraine and Israel - Iceland. Romania will debut on June 17, against the winner of play-off B, in Munich. On June 22, the match against Belgium will take place in Koln, and on June 26, they will meet Slovakia in Frankfurt. Romania will be at the final tournament of the European Championship for the sixth time, after the 1984, 1996, 2000, 2008 and 2016 editions.
