Philatelists from all over the world meet these days in the Capital. The sixth edition of the World Philatelic Exhibition EFIRO 2024, attended by over 600 foreign exhibitors, over 20 postal administrations and 120 officials from abroad, jurors, experts and national commissioners, opened at the National Library of Romania. The event will take place on an area of over 2,000 square meters and marks the celebration of 150 years since the establishment of the Universal Postal Union, of which Romania is one of the founding members, 165 years since the Union of Romanian Principalities, 160 years since the establishment of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and 145 years of consular activity, the organizers say. During the exhibition, there will be sessions of the International Philatelic Jury Training Academy, four international seminars, the Congress of the International Association of Philatelic Journalists and the second World Fiscal Philately Salon. Stamps and philatelic materials will be printed dedicated both to this event, to the capital of Romania, and to the celebrated events, both by the organizers and by foreign postal administrations. Public access is free. Continuing a tradition started in 1932, under the patronage of King Charles II, EFIRO 2024, which will take place until Friday, is organized by the Romanian Philatelic Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the Romanian Post, Romfilatelia S.A., the Museum of Romanian Records and the Results Foundation Remarkable Romanians.
