This year, the mayoralty of Craiova will develop infrastructure projects in the vicinity of the Ford plant

The new CEO of Ford Romania, and manager of the Ford plant in Craiova, Jan Gijsen, met, at the end of last week, with the deputy mayors of Craiova, Mărinică Dincă and Teodor Sas, and with the chairman of the Dolj County Council, Ion Prioteasa. According to the spokesperson of the Mayoralty of Craiova, Carmen Licu, quoted by Agerpres, the meeting, which was also attended by Dionisio Campos san Onofre, the former head of the Ford plant, was intended to hand over the reins to the new manager of the Craiova plant and to set up permanent working meetings in the coming period between the representatives of the carmaker and those of the Mayoralty of the city of Craiova, in order to allow the plant to reach its maximum output.

"The discussions concerned the infrastructure projects that the Mayoralty of Craiova will unfold this year in the area of the Ford plant, and which include, among other things, the rehabilitation of the Caracal street and Henry Ford, respectively, the implementation of a semaphore system near the car factory, the relocation of the streetcar stop and the rehabilitation of the streetcar rails. The mayoralty of Craiova will use the local policemen to ensure that traffic in the neighborhood of the plant will proceed smoothly," said Carmen Licu.

The projects in question are intended to improve the infrastructure in the area near the plant and make it easier for trucks to access the plant.

A communiqué by the Mayoralty of Craiova mentions the fact that after holding several positions on the manufacturing side during his thirty years at Ford, Jan Gijsen will supervise the development of the Ford operations in Craiova, at a time when the plant is getting ready to launch new products and to reach its peak output capacity. "Over the last two and a half years, Dionisio Campos san Onofre served as head of the Craiova plant until January 1st, 2011 and chairman of Ford Romania, handling the process of aligning the plant of Craiova to the global standards and processes of Ford. After leaving Romania, Spanish Dionisio Campos san Onofre will take over the position of managing director of the Ford plant of Valencia, Spain", the communiqué of the mayoralty of Craiova states.
