The Wiener Borse has started calculating and displaying a new regional index, the CECE MID CAP (CECE MID) comprising 30 of the most traded stocks with significant capitalization listed on stock exchanges in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. For the moment, the CECE MID comprises stocks listed in Bucharest, Prague, Warsaw, Budapest, Belgrade, Sofia, Ljubljana and Zagreb - six per country. The maximum ratio of a market within the index is 40%, whereas the maximum ratio of one member is 10%.
Normally, these stocks would belong to the index universe of the CECE Extended Index, but are not included because of their lower market capitalization or trading volumes. The CECE MID stocks will have the opportunity to join the CECE Extended Index when they attain the size criteria regarding capitalization and trading volumes.
The CECE MID is a capitalization-weighted price index. It is calculated and published in real time in EUR and USD and can be used as an underlying for structured products as well as for standardized derivatives such as futures and options. The starting value was defined at 1,000 index points on 3 January 2005. A review of the calculation parameters is done on a quarterly basis and the composition of the index is reviewed and adjusted as necessary every half-year.
The CECE MID enlarges Wiener Borse"s range of indices to a total of 30 indices now. Twenty-two of these indices track the national, regional and sector developments in the countries of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
