Drug maker Zentiva Bucharest posted a net profit of 9.8 million RON (3.12 million EUR) in the second quarter of the year, increasing 2.3 times from 4.17 million RON in the same period last year, according to a report to the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Turnover amounted to 73.88 million RON (23.57 million EUR), recording a 23.13% increase from 60 million RON in the year-ago quarter.
In the first six months, the company reported a net profit of 12.75 million RON (over 4 million EUR), recording a 78.9% rise from 7.12 million RON in the same period last year. Turnover amounted to 129.25 million RON (41.24 million EUR), up by 22.8% as compared with 105.25 million RON in the first half of 2006. The company"s sales in Romania rose by 16.1% to 673 million crowns (23.5 million EUR).
The company has a share capital of 41.69 million RON and a capitalization of 642.12 million RON. The majority shareholder is Venoma Holdings Limited with 50.98% in the company, followed by Zentiva NV, which controls Venoma Holdings Limited, with 23.93%.
