The Tourism Ministry has allocated different budgets for financing projects of the local public administrations, including several projects to be implemented in Brasov County, according to Tourism Minister Elena Udrea.

"Brasov County will host the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2013, so investments are required for such event. Thus, we have allocated 13.5 million RON for modernizing the ski slopes and cable cars in Predeal and 9.5 million RON for building the infrastructure required for producing artificial snow for the slopes in Poiana Brasov. It doesn"t help if you have snow canons and no water nearby," said Tourism Minister Udrea.

To avoid any accusations that fund allocation might be based on political criteria, Udrea added that the Brasov County Council would receive 6.5 million RON to modernize mountain search & rescue bases and rework hiking routes and shelters. The Tourism minister also met with mayors of several communities in the Fagaras area to learn about their ongoing projects and define possible ways to offer support. "For example, we have already started talks with the Ministry of Agriculture to see how we can capitalize on the tourism potential of horse farms. I am referring especially to the famous horse farm in Sambata de Sus. Horse farms should be much more than just fund consumers. They can become tourist attractions and generate some profit," Udrea said.
