Swedish company Ericsson is interested in a location in Romania or Bulgaria for an investment in software research, a possible choice being the headquarters of SC Fortus SA Iasi. Ericsson representatives have recently met with those of the Iasi-based heavy machine tool plant and expressed their intent to buy the building. Ericsson would employ 50-60 specialists in the first phase of the investment and would eventually hire approximately 500 people.
The building consists of ground floor and eight upper floors and has a usable surface of 10.000 square meters, is value being estimated at over 5 million EUR. The building is currently under seizure due to the company"s debt to the state budget. Though the sale of this building, the company would be able to pay its debts and use the rest of the money for a restructuring program.
