Of the 5,600 new joint ventures set up in Romania in the first five months of the year, 129 are Romanian - Hungarian, placing Hungary second after Italy in the top of countries with the most active investors in Romania, according to the Budapest Business Journal. According to the National Statistics Institute (INS), some 5,600 new joint venture companies were set up in Romania in the first five months of the year. These companies registered a share capital of 1.9 billion EUR. Bucharest was the venue chosen by 393 companies. Of the 5,600 joint ventures, 203 involved companies from Italy, 129 were Romanian-Hungarian joint ventures, 86 involved companies from Germany and 73 involved companies from Cyprus. Earlier this year, Romania"s ambassador to Hungary, Ireny Comaroschi, said Romania"s trade with Hungary had reached 4.5 billion EUR in 2007, including 1.53 billion EUR from Romanian exports to Hungary. In the first 11 months of last year, such exports accounted for 5.64% of the total exports made by Romania. In the same period, Romanian imports from Hungary amounted to 3.25 billion EUR, including 1.5 billion EUR worth of EU or other products exported by Hungarian companies to Romania.
