Czech-based energy group CEZ and Hungarian-based oil company MOL have set up a joint venture to build power plants in Central Europe. With a start-up capital of 8.3 million EUR (13.15 million USD), the joint venture will look at opportunities in Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia. Their first projects will be to build 800 MW power generators at the MOL refineries in Bratislava (Slovakia) and Szazhalombatta (Hungary) for some 1.4 billion EUR. CEZ bought 7% in MOL last year and decided to start a joint venture to build production capacity in the region.
